my own mp3 from a cd i own won't play on apple tv music app

I get the error "This song is not currently available in your country or region" when trying to play a personal mp3 file through the Apple Music app on my Apple TV 4k, in the Library section of the app. It will play fine through the Computers app when I go to Music tab in my shared library, however.

What's going on? It seems that Apple Music simply ignores my local files and plays everything through Apple Music or something.

It's understandable that you'd want this resolved, so allow us to assist with that. Please start by taking a look here: If your songs are grayed out. If you are unable to play the song via Apple Music, you may choose to play the .mp3 directly from your computer instead.
