On an iBook with OS 10.4.11 I had accessed the system at root level for an installation of OS 9, which worked. Then after doing that I opened the Information Box of Macintosh HD for reverting the rights back to normal, and by accident I blocked myself out by denying myself the admin rights. Now the Mac starts up but stops with a blank blue screen, and nothing is accessible. – Is there any reasonable way back to normal ?

Thank you - that was neat !!! Now it works. The reason why I did not get through before is because the relevant keypad for what you propose has totally different character assignments, so I had to grope around a lot, and the terminal display is so tiny that I could not see the difference between = and -

Hello Niel – What a pity that now you remain silent … In case you would need more info I have made various photos of what appears on the screen in the terminal ... where could I send them ?
