Alarm sound
Why does my iPad makes a honking/alarm sound on occasion for no reason? Sometimes it takes quite a while to turn it off.

Perhaps you have one of many Notifications/Alerts set on your device - be it associated with a Clock Alarm, Mail, Calendar , Messages - or maybe a notifications/alert associated with an installed App.
