Yah,

That is a 2020 iPad Air 4th gen NOT an iPad 4th gen.

iPads and iPadOS use a lot of finger gestures, now.

To invoke the iOS/iPadOS app switcher in iPadOS, now, you place a finger anywhere along the very bottom edge of the iPad’s screen, then swipe your finger upward aboit 1/3 the way up the screen to reveal all potential background runnng apps.

iPadOS is a much different OS than very old versions of iOS, today.

I suggest you get familar and “up to speed” with iPadOS by viewing iPadOS 15 “how to” videos on YouTube, in the YouTube app.

Here is a YouTube link to one such video to get you started with your 2020 iPad Air 4 and iPadOS 15.

Good Luck to You!

In this an actual 2012, iPad 4th gen or some other newer 4th gen iPad model?

Can you, please, confirm what year and model iPad do you have/own?

The “A” model number can be found on the aluminium back of your iPad, in very small print, right under the larger bold print “iPad” on the back of the iPad.

What iOS/iPadOS version is this iPad, currently, running?
