Unknown websites running in background

Recently, I've been seeing random websites which I've never visited listed under screen time as running for 18-20hrs a day. And these are all just random websites which don't display any content anything when I try accessing them. This happens only on my iPad.

Not only this but once screen time showed that my photos app had been running for almost 20hrs when I hadn't even picked up my iPad for the whole day.

Does anyone know what could be the cause for this?

Hello tradegod,

We'd love to assist you with using the Screen Time feature. First, can you tell us where is shows the apps running in the background? Also, what app(s) are being used for the websites?

Lastly, have you checked to make sure the apps are closed on the device, even if you are not using the device? This will prevent apps from running the background.  You can turn off the feature that allows apps to refresh in the background by going to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and select off to turn off Background App Refresh entirely.

Take care
