Watch face too dark on SE

Since the latest update adjusting the brightness in settings isn’t working. I can’t see a setting to disable auto brightness. Can you help please.

This is the ambient light sensor kicking in,this adjusts your screen brightness to match the surrounding area,there is no setting or configuration for this.

actually the control does work but the face dims in lower light- exactly when you need it. So just need to locate the always on mechanism!
