iMessages
My I messages won’t send : try again or send a text message. Why won’t it just send it via text ?
iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 15

You need a internet connection-4g/wifi for imessage to work. However, you can turn on the option of sending it as a text message when i message is not available.
go to settings- message and then tuen on the switch next to send as text message. See screen shot
