Active background processes will continue to run. If you are transferring data during initial setup, or restoring from a backup, you would be well advised to connect your iPad to its Power Adapter while doing so, as this will avoid your iPad attempting to save power and potentially “sleep” through inactivity.

Thank you. I had the Android device plugged into power, same for the iPAD. The transfer worked fine even though the display turned off on both devices before completion.
