it must get charged.. from a lightning or ? wire ⚡️
sorry .. error corrections went sideways!🤪
1. If your 'Bluetooth device' [magic keyboard, mouse, trackpad] ~ came with an iMac:
"a Lighting to USB cable was also included in the box" (original link no longer there!)
2. Magic Mouse can't be used while connected to the cable.

Good luck! ☺︎

(Emphasis added)
The Apple Magic Mouse is wireless; there is no way to plug it into anything. It uses Bluetooth wireless connectivity.
..bayoubasket:
There is a 'lighting port' on bottom of magic mouse2.
User manual Apple Magic Mouse2 (english - 24 pages)

Of course the instructions say use the cable that came
with the mouse. ~ IF Magic Mouse came with an iMac.
"Use the Lightning to USB cable that came with your mouse.
Plug the Lightning end into the Lightning port on the bottom
of your mouse, and the USB end into a USB port on your Mac
or a USB power adapter."
(sorry for the interruption, BD & MartinR)
Not sure this would help me: I'd get a generic mouse!🙃
Well, the original Magic Mouse was completely self-contained. No wires. The Magic Mouse 2 actually does have a lightning port on the bottom that is used with a lightning-to-USB-C cable for pairing & charging. It's not used for normal mouse operation. Mea culpa, I overstated the bit about not plugging it into anything.
A female USB-C to male USB-A adapter may allow a Magic Mouse 2 to connect to a 2013-era Mac for charging but I suspect it would not work for pairing.
Which Mouse & cable?
Your Mac it'd be a USB port.. A recent Mouse may require am adapter.
Don't recent ones have a Lightening/USB charging cable?
