Need help with Java question

Hello everyone. I was wondering about the security of Java on a Mac running big sur (newest version of it).

Does having java on my computer necessarily make my computer vulnerable just by it being there? I only need it for one application (a game) but I’ve heard it can be a big security flaw. Is there any way I can ensure Java is only used for the one application (or any other necessary steps I should take if Java is installed)?

I figured I’d ask here before doing anything.

thank you!

MacBook Air (2020 or later)
