Um, the device that plugs into the computer will be subject to EXACTLY the same vagueness as your cell phone. It replicates the connection possible by using your phone as a HotSpot.


You don't need a home Base Station -like device to use your phone as a HotSpot. Just turn on sharing, give it a name and a password, and connect to it over Wi-Fi with your Mac, or use a cable if you prefer.
