My new MacBook Air connects to Wi-Fi but takes forever to partially connect to the internet. It works very very slowly! Apple people said it worked perfectly in their shop! Spoken to isp a number of times with no solution! Should I try another isp provider?

Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Sys Prefs>Network>highlight the Interface you're using>Advanced>TCP/IP>Configure IPv4: Using DHCP.
If using Wifi, instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
System Preferences>Network>choose interface>Advanced>Proxies Tab, make sure none are set, like for HTTP & HTTPS.
System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

Trouble is it may work for them there & not for you at home or wherever..
Have you restarted your Modem or Router?
Do you have any close microwave interference?
Hold option key when clicking on the Wifi icon, what does it report?
I don't know what sysextctrid is... what OS version are you running?
No, if you're using Wifi just make certain that is dragged to the top.
I solved the problem by restarting the computer and by not linking the Mac to the MacBook Air!! It works now whether this was the problem or no!!! Thanks for trying!
What happens when you try?
I think I have gone wrong somewhere when you ask me to drag services to change order I only have Wi-Fi and thunderbolt bridge! I don’t have various network names - I have a feeling that is what is supposed to be there! Should I eliminate thunderbolt bridge I think that arrived when I was transferring some info from my other big mac
It’s not working again! It appears to be an issue with apple rather than the router - if I take the laptop to the apple shop what can I tell them that they need to deal with - or should they know anyway. They told me it was working ok when I took it there last week!!
I think I have done all you have asked but the final bit about adding the numbers to the dns column won’t happen! I expect I have done something wrong!
When I try adding the numbers I can add 3 x 8s then it reverts to 192.168.1.1
When I go on to the network after giving something a name I am asked to use sysextctrid to control this content filter configuration??
