Will heat can directly decrease the battery health of an iphone?

Help me good people of this support community!

Im being paranoid because one time I have to drive and I noticed my car's ac is not working. And i took out my phone out of my pocket. Thats between 1-2 in the afternoon. I noticed that my iphone warms up even I'm not using it because it's hot inside even the windows are open. Will it directly damage or decreases the battery health? Or will it affect the battery performance without dropping the battery health percentage?

note: the iphone did not notify that it exceeded the temperature and did not shut down by itself. I'm just being paranoid of what can happen.

Depending on how hot it is exposure to high heat (and conversely low heat) will affect the battery like over an extended period assuming this is for a number of hours during the day.

Here is the environmental specs for the iPhone:

Environmental Requirements

  • Operating ambient temperature: 32° to 95° F (0° to 35° C)
  • Nonoperating temperature: −4° to 113° F (−20° to 45° C)
  • Relative humidity: 5% to 95% noncondensing
  • Operating altitude: tested up to 10,000 feet (3000 m)
