AirPods Max will not pair anymore

This is infuriating. A few weeks ago, my AirPods Max have stopped connecting to my HP PC and subsequently to my iPhone and iPad. When trying to activate pairing mode by pressing and holding the noise control button, the white light turns on for about two seconds, then immediately turns of and the green light appears. No flashing. Ever. I've tried literally anything possible from factory reset to updating iOS to updating Bluetooth drivers on my PC, literally nothing is working. Now I can't even get them to properly reset anymore because the white flashing light never appears. I've resorted to buying an Apple original audio to lighting cable and not even that works.

What? This is about AirPods Max (you know, the big ones with the cushions?), not any other type of AirPods. I clean the ear cushions regularly but I don't even know how that could possibly affect connectability… Look, if you don't have solutions to my very specific problem, you don't need to reply.
