Calendar shows alerts for Calendar that is not being displayed

I do not include my daughter's calendar in those I display but if she changes something or has an alert I get notifications. This is on my iMac and also iPad. She too has this issue with her iPad in that every time I modify something on my calendar she gets a notification although she does not display my calendar.

Hi Cerridwyn,

Got it! Thank you for clarifying that. Sounds like the notification are set up to alert of changes on the Shared calendar.

You can change this by going to Settings > Notifications > Calendar > Customize Notifications and turn off "Shared Calendar Changes". You'll want to do this on both your iPad and her's.

Share iCloud calendars on iPad

On your iMac, you can go into the Calendar menu > Preferences > Alerts and deselect the option " Show shared calendar messages in Notification Center".

Share calendar accounts on Mac

Hope that helps!

Hi Cerridwyn,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities! From our understanding, you are receiving notifications when your daughter adds or edits events on her calendar and she gets alerts for your calendar edits as well, do we have that right? Are you both using the same Apple ID? Are you part of a Family Sharing group? Is it possible that you are both editing and adding events to the Family Calendar instead of your own individual calendars?

You can go to Settings > Calendar and check that the Default Calendar isn't "Family".

Use iCloud with your family

Hope that helps!

Still not going to win this one. I DO NOT want to see anything - notifications/changes for my daughter's calendar unless I turn it on to be visible BUT our shared calendar for things the two of us do together I do want to see notifications AND changes.

I have totally different needs for these two shared calendars. Unfortunately all shared calendars are treated the same.

I do appreciate everybody's efforts.

I don't think I"m going to win this one. I have TWO calendars that are shared with me: my daughter's regular calendar and a calendar we created for things we do together. If I turn off the shared calendars it turns off notifications for both of these so the ones on our joint calendar do not come up.

I want to be able to set notifications for EACH calendar and that is likely WAY down the suggestion list if it is even on it at all.
