My Apple-HD (Vers-2) "Stalls" when watching Apple-TV show via a 5.0 Gb Wi-Connection. Why...??
"Stalls" means: Video freezes, "wheel" spins, while video buffer catches up.

Anyway, the Wi-Fi band shouldn’t matter for Apple TV. All models support dual band.
Possibly one of your neighbors is using an overlapping Wi-Fi channel in the 5 GHz band. Try restarting your router, if it supports automatic optimization on startup. Else configure better channels manually on your router.
