Annotations sometimes not saving on PDFs

Hi there,

I download a PDF for a class from online and save it to a folder in the "Files" app, which is "On my Ipad".

Next, I open it and mark it up using my Apple Pencil.

Next, I click "Done" to save the markups

However, sometimes my markups never save and I lose all my markups

A few of my friends at Carnegie Mellon have also faced a similar issue.

Please advise

Annotations in preview! So i´ve noticed that alot of my annotations disappears although I´m saving multiple times. Some seem to stay saved like 30%. And it is not the last saved that disappears, but more randomly. What can I do, besides buy a PDF-annotation software? Anyone with the same problem?

Annotating a PDF using Preview through Mail app Hello - I was working on ipad with IOS 13.2.3 and opened a PDF attachment from the mail application and annotated it using an apple pencil. When i finished, I pressed "done" on the top left. When I open the same attachment again, it appears that none of my annotations were saved. Does the Preview app autosave annotated pdf's somewhere? If so, where? Thanks.

Markup not saving annotations on iPad PDFs when I markup files or PDFs in the files app on my iPad, using iCloud Drive, sometimes the highlights don’t save and sometimes they do. I can’t see any sort of save feature and I don’t understand why this is happening.
