Import > cancel > media still appears in browser?

  1. I created a brand new FCP library.
  2. I hit Import, and chose a large 6GB video file, and clicked import (along with yes create proxy).
  3. After I hit OK, I realized, oops, I chose the wrong file. So I brought up the background tasks window, and canceled the import.
  4. The transcoding/rendering still continued. Why? Isn't that a bug?
  5. I canceled them too. Now in my library, FCP lists the video file for which I canceled the import. Why? Isn't that a bug?

I've had many import issues with FCP in the past, so since this is such a simple repro recipe, I thought I would ask why this is the case, and if this could be symptomatic of other import issues.
