New LG 5K monitor (27MD5KL-B) with MBP 16 M1 Max

I just bought the LG - UltraFine 27" IPS LCD 5K (Model: 27MD5KL-B) - made to be used with MAC... I have the MBP 16 with M1 Max chip. Can anyone tell me if I can just use the Thunderbolt 3 cable to power the laptop or do I have to use the laptop's power adapter?

MacBook Pro (2020 and later)

Hello Langsport,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you have questions about how to power your monitor to use with your Mac. The related article at the top of the page is a great place to start. Yes, you would need to use the power adapter. You can use the Thunderbolt cable to connect the display.

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
