It will be adequate.
Bear in mind if you insist upon the lowest priced, entry-level model of anything, you will not derive the best value over time. The MacBook Air is designed primarily for portability, and if that is your primary concern then by all means get it. On the other hand if you a professional music producer I strongly recommend that you consider an appropriately configured Mac. Considering the duration of its useful economic life, the difference in cost for a Pro model Mac is likely to be less, not more.

Are you referring to the 13" MacBook Pro or the new 14' or 16" MacBook Pro with the M1Pro or M1Max chips?
If you are referring to the 13" MacBook Pro version, performance wise it is pretty much the same as the M1 MacBook Air "better model" (8 core CPU/8 core GPU). They both use the same M1 chip. The only real difference is a little bit bigger battery, they let you crank the display a little bit brighter, and used fans to cool, which may help with heavy long time processor use.
If you were referring to the new 14" or 16" MacBook Pro, if you can afford it, get it.
