Incorrect step count from driving

Why does my step count keep increasing when I am driving? I have recalibrated a coupe of times but when I have been driving my step count increases greatly! Does anyone know how I can stop this please?

Because the Apple Watch is tracking your arm movements.

Knitters sitting still rack up huge step counts, because they are constantly moving their arms while knitting.

While driving you are moving your arm, especially if you are on a road with lots of turns, or you keep your Apple Watch on the arm that works the gearshift, or plays with the radio, or heat/air conditioning controls, or grabs your coffee or beverage cup and raises it to your mouth a lot.
