Delete Conversation WITHOUT Unpinning

Is there really no way to clean up a conversation (delete all content), but keep the contact pinned? They removed the Delete All option from within the thread, which was very useful. I have my favorite contacts that I would like to remain pinned, but I also want to be able to delete the thread to reduce clutter. I don't see a way this is possible without deleting the entire thread and then starting and re-pinning the contact again.

Hey there, danglez83!

We appreciate you reaching out on Apple Support Communities. From our understanding, you have questions about deleting messages on your iPhone. We’d love to help!

When deleting a thread this would remove the pin as well, since the thread no longer would exist. Since you mentioned the Delete All option, we’d recommend that you provide feedback regarding this at: Product Feedback - Apple

That being said, there are a couple features that can help reduce the amount you need to manually delete. You can check those settings by going to Settings > Messages > Keep Messages. From there, you can select an option that works best for you.

Additionally, if you and your contacts like to send audio messages, you can check to see how those are saved in the same screen under Audio Messages > Expire.

Kindest regards!

I agree . . . terrible response and atrocious UI/UX. It's 100% illogical and counterintuitive to UNPIN a contact simply to delete the conversation. The sensible thing would be to have a "delete all" button, so the PAYING can CONVENIENTLY perform the desired action. Support should be the ones to automatically submit these conversations to "Product feedback."
