AppleNews , and other apps are not opening properly. AppleNews . just showing headlines

I recently messed with settings on my iPhone 11 Pro attempting to use United Airlines Flyfi (which I have never been able to use) I have just discovered that AppleNews+ and other apps such as Fidelity will not open and Google searches are delayed or not possible. I have deleted and reinstalled AppleNews, shut my phone off and restarted etc. I have obviously changed an important setting. Any suggestions as to what that setting or settings might be? All ideas welcomed

You seem to already have completed the first few steps from this article but the last seems possibly the cause since you recently traveled.

If you can't connect to the App Store, iTunes Store, or other Apple services - Apple Support

"Check the date and time

Make sure that the date and time on your device are set correctly for your time zone.

On your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Open the Settings app. Tap General, then tap Date & Time. Get more help with date and time.

On your Mac: Open System Preferences, then choose Date & Time.

On your Apple TV: Go to Settings > General > Date and Time.

If the date and time are incorrect, update them or turn on the option to set date and time automatically."

Hello,

Are the settings you were changing related to network connectivity? If so, resetting your network settings might help resolve the issue.

If you see No Service or Searching on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

"Reset your Network Settings.

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before."

I hope this helps.
