I just got my new Macbook Pro 14" and the Shift 1 does not bring up the exclamation point. How do I get it to work? I migrated everything from my old Macbook Pro and it did not give me an exclamation point either when I used Shift 1. So I don't know if it is the result of my new computer not working right.

what character IS generated when you press Shift-1 ??
what keyboard translation is set up? are you using US keyboard, international English keyboard, or something else?

Nothing is generated when I press Shift-1 and I am using US keyboard
No that is not the issue or problem, it does not start up showing an exclamation point in a circle
The only thing that shows up when I go to the System Preferences > Keyboard > Input Sources is the American flag and US
