I am trying to sell my MacBook Air M1 and a potential buyer would like to know the battery cycle count. But I already factory reset the device. Can I get the cycle count without setting it up again?

Before you set up a new user for the sole purpose of extracting that information, boot macOS Recovery, and select Terminal from the Utilities menu.
At the Terminal prompt, type
system_profiler SPPowerDataType | grep "Cycle Count"

When I booted into MacOS recovery my only option was to activate the machine, I couldn't access the terminal before I activated it and created a user. So, I just created a temporary user and got the cycle count from system information and then erased the Mac again.
