Cancel a meeting, but keep it on iCalendar

Do you have a work-around for this problem? I want to keep meetings on my calendar but have them show as cancelled. There is no strike-through feature, you must merely delete them and then they're literally gone. I made a new RED calendar called CANCELLED and moved the meetings to that calendar. At least they show up red now and I can track them. What do you do?

Edit the title of the event from "Meeting with Sue and Jane" to "CANCELLED: Meeting with Sue and Jane".

Though, mostly if I cancel a meeting, I don't find it important to keep it on the calendar.
