Best way to convert PDF files to CSV files?

I need to convert my bank statements' PDF files to CSV files for import to Quickbooks.

I want to find software that is safe.

The bank should be able to give you an Excel or CSV export of your statements. PDFs are not very easily converted to PDF. In part because graphics and odd characters in the PDF may export erroneous characters. Unless your PDF is actually line by line selectable as text, you will have a hard time exporting it to CSV.

If it does allow you to select line by line with the mouse, copy/paste into a TextEdit application and save as plain text.

From that you can import into any spreadsheet what you exported.
