ipad pro ios 15.3 issues with pip/netflix

I can’t use PiP while watching Netflix anymore. On my older IPad Pro I have no issues watching Netflix pip while searching other things on Safari or working, even now; while my newer iPad Pro 2021 isn’t allowing it anymore.

I swipe up and it just opens all running apps instead of switching to PiP like usual, no matter how many times I try.

Ipad Pro 2021 was working with Netflix PIP until about a week ago- can’t seem to find much help or information online. I’ve restarted my iPad, checked for updates, even deleted and reinstalled Netflix app etc.

I was having the same problem! Started a few days ago while I was using the app…. I just went into Settings>general> Picture in Picture and turned it off, started Netflix (still wasn’t working), went back to the settings and turned it back on. Voila! Now it’s back! Definitely some new bug.

Lol nvm, I got it working! Try toggling pip again and then force-restart/hard reset the device (ie, hold down the power + home buttons til device shuts off and apple logo appears, or the vol(-), then vol(+), then power button, depending on what device you’re using/whether or not it has a home button).


Not sure if this will work for you but it DID work for me, so if you haven’t tried it yet it’s def worth a shot :) Good luck!

We appreciate you reaching out on Apple Support Communities. From our understanding, you’re unable to use the Multitask feature or picture in picture with Netflix on your iPad. We’d be happy to look into this with you!


You’ve done some fantastic troubleshooting so far. So that we can isolate this further, does this only occur with the Netflix app or with all apps?


If it only occurs with Netflix, have you reached out to them regarding this matter? Also, you mentioned that you were able to view this on your other iPad. Are both devices on the same iPadOS version? You can find that in Settings > General > About.
