airplay streaming pauses

I have noticed with the latest iOS, airplay streaming seems to be buggy. It used to be that you could initiate airplay from iPhone, and then if the iPhone screen went to sleep, or if you navigated to a different app, that the streaming would continue.

What I am finding now, is that the airplay streaming stops, and loses its place, if the phone goes to sleep or I navigate outside of the streaming app.
