Network Shield scam

I was browsing in Safari and suddenly I got a virus warning from Network Shield, scanning for virus. It says there are 3 viruses on my MAC and that I have to use Norton antivirus to remove the viruses. I saw an old conversation about this in December. This is scary. Looks so official. Anyway to avoid these popups?
