Activity Monitor shows Adobe using lots of CPU

2019 16" MBP (loaded) with lots of HD space running 12.1 (I'm updating in the next week), was running hot, fans running, so I checked Activity Monitor and it showed Adobe using a lot of resources, even though I didn't have any programs running. I'm a full subscriber to Adobe, so I have the Creative Cloud app and I also have the Adobe Creative Cloud folder in the sidebar of Finder windows.

Thoughts on why Adobe is using so many resources and what to do about it.

Thanks!

Hello nickjb,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. Upon review of your post, it seems that you have noticed high resource usage from your Adobe software on your Mac. We can see why you’d want this taken care of, so let us help from here! Updating your Mac (as well as restarting regularly) are always good ways to help with unexpected behavior like this. We also see a mention of this occurring on Adobe’s website, which may be useful to review: Creative Cloud app using excessive resources.

Please let us know if you have follow up questions, so we can continue assisting. Take care!
