Corrupted Recovery Partition

I'm troubleshooting a computer one of my sisters got from my mom, can't be sure about age, but I'm guessing 2016 or so. It is a Mac Book Pro.

The main system is corrupted, so I've used the Recovery Partition to reinstall Monterey after running the Disk Utility (no problems found). After the reinstall, the computer won't start up. The progress bar gets part way and starts over. Every time. I've let it go for hours, even overnight.

I tried reinstalling the system from the newest MacOS cd I had, which was not compatible with this mac (Snow Leopard) - yes, I know that was a long shot.

Do I have any options?

OK. When doing the reinstall the Mac is going to restart twice. Then it finishes the install and is suppose to boot to desktop. Unless you are doing a clean install which means you erased the operating system. You said it was corrupted. When you just do a reinstall it keeps any personal files and settings that were on it. Which means it still could be corrupted. You may need to go back to recovery, disk utilities and erase the startup volume , not the full drive. And then do a reinstall which would finally boot to a setup screen. Like a new computer used for the first time.
