iCloud+ Custom Email Domain - More than 5 people?

I have 8 family custom domain email accounts set up on gmail. Currently (January 2022) it's free, but that may change in July, and I don't want to pay $6 per custom email per month.

Can the 8 people all sign up for a Custom Email Domain address from their own iCloud account?

I get that we would all need to use icloud (so nobody on a separate hosting site for the custom domain). But is the limit 5 users (i.e. all in the same "family")?

I have more than 5 people (8 total) so I can't use it if it's limited to one "family" in iCloud (so, limit 5).

Thanks

Hi  tegler27,

We appreciate you clarifying that. It looks a domain can only be shared within your Family Sharing group, so you wouldn't be able to have all 8 personal emails using the same domain.

If this is something you'd like to see changed in the future, we recommend leaving feedback here:

Hi tegler27,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand you'd like to know if you can use 8 custom domain email accounts using iCloud+, and we' like to assist. It looks like you've come from a helpful article:

Use Custom Email Domain with iCloud Mail

It's limited to 5 custom domains per iCloud+ subscription, so you would need to have more than one subscription to accommodate all 8.

Take care.

Great - this sounds really hopeful then.

So, say, if I have myself, my spouse and my two kids on a "family" iCloud+ group, and then also I have two brothers and two sisters who each have their own iCloud+ accounts, can we ALL have different "custom domain" email addresses?

(This, by the way, is my real setup. My immediate family has an iCloud+ subsription, and my siblings do as well, but not in my "family" group - they all subscribe separately. Say our domain is Smith.com. Can I have "joe@smith.com," and can the seven other people each have their own addresses (so long as each of them has a paid iCloud+ subsription)?

Are we "using just one custom domain '@smith.com' and then 8 personal emails using that one domain"?

Yes.

We have 8 individuals, all of whom would have a separate Apple ID, and all of whom would subscribe to iCloud+ (5 of them as a family - my family). So John@smith.com, Jane@smith.com, Jeb@smith.com, Joe@smith.com, Jerry@smith.com, plus Bob@smith.com, Ben@smith.com and Betty@smith.com. All the Js are in a family, plus the three B's.

So beyond the 5 in the family, can the three others also use the smith.com domain name for their email if they have iCloud+?
