no sound alert on iphone incoming text messages

Have the exact same problem on iPhone8 but only since the update of 15.3.1 (which happened because I accidentally touched the "WRONG" button "update now or later" when I was in the middle of doing 3 things on my phone. It stinks that Apple will not address this problem. Nor, will they allow a "signed" download for me to go back to 14.8 or some other older version of IOS. This is not my first time with bugs in updates - so I stopped updating until this "accidental update"!!!!

It's crazy, because my husband has iPhone8 also, on 15.3.1, and doesn't have any sound issues. I have spent a full day and a half researching this problem and trying countless "fixes" of which none work. I've even tried to do Factory Reset hoping to get back to my original IOS that came with my phone (think is was IOS 11) but no luck. There's no "signed" download for anything but IOS 15. I am completely frustrated after wasting all these hours. Of course one of the texts that "get no sound" are my husband.

This is ridiculous - I just want to go back to 14.8 where there was stability!!!!!

This is from a LONG TIME iPhone user who's getting frustrated enough to change! I really don't want to, Apple please suggest a fix that will work.

I've seen countless complaints about this on the Internet from several devices. Mine is iPhone8, I've seen it for iPhone 11 also. All complaints are related to various versions of IOS 15 and some for IOS 14.

Mine is iphone SE and have the same problem. Currently have IOS15.3.1 but it was acting up before upgrades. I had a pink SE before this and had NO problems with the text sound notification. I also note that the color, when I take a photograph, is NOT true to life.

Also, the dictation used to be fine until all of the upgrades. Now, it is slow, misses words, misses sentences, stalls, ends abrubtly, etc. This is a piece of junk.

This seems a device-specific issue.

I have no issue with iOS 15.3 on my device. Both iMessage and SMS gets notification sound.
