AppleTV smart playlist order fails to match MacOS TV app

When creating a smart playlist, you can sort the list by any of the columns displayed. I chose release year and the playlist in the MacOS TV application looks perfect. However, when you go to the AppleTV, the library app version of the playlist reverts to sorting the movies by Director's first name no matter what you do.

Changing the view does not help

Copy to play order does not help

Have I missed something or is this one of the many irritating things we just have to tolerate?

You aren't missing anything. This is the way this app has always been. WHY?! I have no idea. It is the ONE reason why I still keep a computer around with iTunes. My media library is extensive and I rely on smart playlists to keep it organized. But having those lists be in "the order that the media arrived in the program" is not an acceptable solution. TV app is unuseable until they solve this seemingly EASY thing to fix.
