Watch - Apple ID password required - can’t do with Scribble Pad

Trying to enter Apple ID password on my watch using the Scribble pad feels impossible! For instance, I can’t get it to distinguish between upper and lower case P…and because it’s a password…you can’t go back along the word to change it! Is there a way of changing to keyboard? If there is a ‘Settings’ function…please can you be explicit how I navigate to it.

Is your watch connected with your phone?

If I want to type on my Apple Watch, I'll get the option to use the nearby iPhone.
