I cannot change the permission in the Macintosh hd.

Hello, I can't change the permission, so I cannot use for example a dynamic wallpaper I downloaded, because I can't paste it in the desktop pictures folder. This is very confusing. I would like a rational solution to this problem. Thanks in advance.

What folders are you trying to change?

Since Big Sur, the top of the drive is mounted as read-only, so the contents of the OS are preserved from modification.

If you are trying to make changes to /System/Library/Desktop Pictures, it is not going to be possible, by design.

You can of course put those pictures in a location inside your user folder, and use them as desktop pictures anyway.

I copied a .madesktop file from the system library into my own folder. That showed up as a Dynamic selection.

A plain .heic file does not work.

The .madesktop file is just an XML text file that points to the location of the thumbnails and includes information on whether it is Dynamic or Solar. The actual .heic files are stored in a hidden sub-folder of Desktop Pictures named .thumbnails.

I don't believe it would matter where you store the .heic, but you have to create a .madesktop file to tell the OS that it is dynamic and where to find the file.

Hello, I tried to put them to another folder but for a reason there is no option to Put them in dynamic option (in settings). And I suppose maybe I have to move them to desktop pictures in order to have the option for dynamic. So what is the way to make them dynamic? Thanks in advance.

There seems to be some dysfunction here...

If I understand your question, the wallpaper doesn't change (from dark to light) but it is like in the photo all the time. The other thing is that as you can see there is no option to select for dynamic mode. If you notice, the default dynamic wallpapers located in the desktop pictures folder, they have the option of dynamic instead of the fitting option.
