Reset Mac and now what?! :(

Hello everyone, I'm new here and not very techy but i need your help/advise on what to do here.

I have an issue with my "new" MacBook air M1 my employer send me a few days ago. I tried to remove all data and file of the previous employee that had it but I didn't know of course his Apple ID.

My employer told me to reset it and has sent me a url with the steps to follow. I did rest it but I'm stuck on to install the macOS.

I get a flashing folder with an interrogation sign. I did option+command+R for Internet Recovery but is taking toooo long and after fails and I get an error -2003F.

Now, I think this is because I have low wifi connection. This is what Mac Support told me,

I wanted to ask you, If I will take it to an Apple store are the guys able to help me and install it?

How much it will cost me this more or less? I'm in Edinburgh, UK

Thank you!!

Nikoletta

Is -2303F the correct code?

This

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8281679

says lack of internet during recovery is 2103F

Also for an M1 Mac you enter Recovery by:

Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window. Click the gear icon labeled Options, then click Continue.

How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support

I have managed to sort it out, I went to the Apple store this morning as I was off from work. I have now installed macOS Monterey, all good :)

I know is their responsibility but they don't have an IT dept unfortunately. Hopefully went all good!

The only thing I've noticed when I shut it down I have a purple screen for a few seconds. I have a apple support call arranged tomorrow to see this. here is below:

Personally, if the Employer sent a used ( New ) M1 MacBook Air and the machine belongs to the Company in that condition - it is the function of the Company IT Department to clean it up before sending it to me.

Otherwise - you become the IT Department and any issues that may occur is on you the employee.

Use Disk Utility to erase a Mac with Apple silicon

  1. The problem is I see it may occur is step # 3 If asked, enter the Apple ID and password previously used with this Mac. Forgot your Apple ID?
