Pixelated Macbook Screen

I was watching a movie on my macbook when about 1/5 of my screen on the left suddenly became pixelated. this doesn't change when I shut it down and turn it back on. I've never dropped it which is making me confused as to why this is happening. It still functions and I can still click on that part of the screen, but it's extremely pixelated.
