Troubleshooting Genuine AirPods:

A. Who's the Seller?:

Note that AirPods are commonly reported to be fake, and that is a common occurrence you may get if purchased third-handed, or off of the Web (i.e. eBay). However, if you purchased these form Apple, then no issues there and all is genuine.

B. Device Database Glitch?

Yes. Apple does all items with unique Serial Numbers. If you come across an issue with it already being used, then contact Apple Support. Perhaps it is a glitch in their device database that needs to be fixed.

Why the Wait:

Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)
