Deleted tab groups popping back up immediately

Title says it all, I delete a tab group in Safari but it just pops back up immediately. I was having problems creating new tab groups so I thought I might've created too many. Started deleting several and after 6-7 deleting successfully, now this issue started. I've been able to create new groups but sometimes those disappear and an older deleted tab group pops up in the same spot. I'm not computer savvy by any means but I don't believe this is all happening because of anything I'm doing so I figured I'd see if anyone has had this issue and found a solution.

I've managed to fix this by shutting down my MBP (*) and then deleting the tab groups in Safari on my iPad, before starting up the MBP again. Judging from numerous other similar questions and comments, it cannot be done with an MBP or iMac alone.

(* Stopping the Safari-process was maybe enough)

So much for tab groups, AFAIC. Apple still has work on them to make them more usable, and less prone to issues like this.
