My generic bluetooth mouse doesn't show up in my Macbook Air High Sierra

My generic mouse can be paired to two devices at once and I have done Bluetooth debug, reset, etc but it remains undiscovered. It works when connecting to Android and Windows and it is supposed to work with Mac. I can use it when pairing using the USB but not in Bluetooth mode. I have tried searching for it after pairing it through the 2.4 Ghz USB but it is still invisible. Is my Mac too old or what? Please help, all you geniuses out there!!!

Thanks!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.13

Troubleshooting Bluetooth Mouse:

A. Syncing Button:

Hold down the button on the bottom of your mouse to begin the syncing process.

B. Enable Bluetooth:

Be certain that Bluetooth is enabled on your Mac.

C. Restart your Mac:

See what happens when you restart your Mac.

D. Reset your SMC and your NVRAM:

Sometimes changes are made to the system and then settings (i.e. for Wi-Fi) become corrupted, in the meanwhile. So, reset both on your Mac. See where it goes from there. It’s worth a go.

E. Try Safe Mode:

In Safe Mode, login items do not run, and corrupt system files(i.e. caches) are intentionally reset as a way to fix issues

  1. Boot: in to Safe Mode: [Hold Down: shift key upon boot].
  2. Log in: as same user
  3. Wait: 30 seconds
  4. Restart; your Mac
  5. Log in: as same user
