Thanks for getting back with us about this, chedbv831. We appreciate the updated information. Are you using the same Apple ID to sign in as was originally used to set up the Mac? If not, try to switch to that and attempt the download & install once more.

Let us know if that works or if you are using the same Apple ID. Have a good rest of your day.

Hello chedbv831,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. Upon review of your post, it seems that you are having an issue reinstalling macOS Yosemite on your Mac. We can see why you’d want this taken care of, so we’re happy to help.

Take a look at the resource that could help with what you're experiencing. This also includes the hardware requirements.

If the issue remains, we will need a bit more information to better assist you. Can you tell us if the reinstall was successful or not? Where specifically do you see that error message? What are you attempting to do at the time?

Take care!

Hi Gena,

Seems that my initial statement is unclear. Given the information I stated above, below are what I have done:

  1. Rebooted my Mac, went to disk utility and erased my primary partition (with Yosemite as the OS)
  2. went back to utility, connected my Mac to the internet and chosen Reinstall OS
  3. System checked for eligibility and prompted me to sign in on my Apple ID
  4. After signing in, from which I expect it will download the OS installer, the error message says "Sorry, item is not currently unavailable. Please try again at a later time"

I am not upgrading yet. I wanted to do a clean reinstall of Yosemite before I upgrade it to the latest OS that my hardware can support.

Can you help me on this?
