Airdrop stuck on waiting

Hi, i have been trying to airdrop a simple easy file from my iphone 8+ to a macbook pro. Both devices are updated to the latest software. Anyone have any help they can provide or any troubleshooting guides. Thanks much appreciated

I had that problem too and it was in the firewall settings of my macbook.

  1. Go to System Settings > Security & Privacy and click the firewall tab.
  2. Click the lock in the lower left corner to make changes
  3. If the firewall is off, this is not your problem and ignore the rest of this post.
  4. If it is on, click Firewall Options…
  5. Make sure "Block all incoming connections" is unchecked
  6. I would check "Automatically allow built-in software to receive incoming connections"
  7. Scroll down the list of allowed or blocked software and make sure that the system executable file "sharingd" is not blocked. It must be allowed to accept incoming connections to receive airdrop files.

I had the same problem and this fixed it right up!
