Why won’t my cinematic mode open?

My girlfriend just got the new iPhone 13 pro max and is trying to use cinematic mode, but the screen just stays black and doesn’t do anything. She can change focal points, exposure, etc. but there’s nothing coming up on the screen. Even when pressing record.

iPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 15

(1) Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button

Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).

(2)  If that does not help then take that iPhone 13 Pro Max right where you bought it from and either get our money back or get it exchanged. You said that it was a new iPhone and therefore will have Apple’s 1YR Limited Warranty active. Take advantage of it.
