Hi,
HP appears to have 1020 drivers for Windows and Linux only.
However, earlier, an HP LaserJet 1022 driver 1.6.1 for Mac (in a package download from Apple) was reported to be compatible with an HP LaserJet 1020.
See https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US and Printer and scanner drivers for Mac - Apple Support.
It should be noted that the System Requirements for the HP 5.1.1 Printer Software Update from Apple say Not compatible with macOS v12 and newer, but one report (about an HP LaserJet P1005) mentioned use with macOS 12.1 as well, so the LaserJet 1022 driver could perhaps be worth a try.
This may not work at all with your printer. It may not even be possible to install the package. Look upon it as an experiment only. Make sure that you have backup copies of all important files (documents, photos, et cetera) if you decide to perform tests with drivers.
