How to change Gmail password on an old iPad2?

I am trying to recover/change a hidden password for Gmail on an old iPad2 (IOS 7.1.2). This is not the Gmail app. This is the default email app on the iPad2. Under Settings the password is ******* . There is no option view the password. If you try to change the password, obviously the iPad will not accept it. Does anyone have an idea as to how it can be recovered? I tried recovering it through my laptop, but I received "Google couldn’t verify this account belongs to you." Gmail then asks you to make the change on the embedded device (which in this case would be the iPad).

Anyone have ideas as to how to solve this problem??

Oh, that's a totally different problem, and I suggest that you contact Google Gmail support team and explain your problem.

They should be able to let you change your email account password on your computer, before making any changes on your iPad.

Google:

"To recover your account, try again to sign in:

Answer as many questions as you can
Use a device where you’ve signed in before"

And that would be the iPad . . . . . except at least the older IOS versions do not allow the password to be changed.

If you're using the Apple Mail app, and if you already changed your Gmail password on your computer, you can:

Delete that e-mail account from the iPad
Restart your iPad
Re-add that same email account with the new password.

Depending on the amount of email messages you have, keep the iPad connected to the wifi and it should quickly repopulate.

OK, but the problem is I cannot even change the password on my laptop. Gmail is not letting me.
