Logitech BRIO not recognized and won't turn on with MacBook Pro

Hi! I have a Logitech BRIO camera. It stopped working with my MacBook Pro.

Logitech replaced the camera, so I have a new one but the problem continues. The camera is not recognized as being connected to the computer. Under my System Info, it doesn't show under the Hardware > Camera section.

Things I've tried:

  • Updating my MacBook Pro
  • Updated the Logitech software
  • I switched the ports that I plug the Logitech BRIO into
  • I deleted all Logitech software and reinstalled

I'm not sure what to do next and I'd appreciate any ideas. Thank you very much.

My computer:

MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017)

Monterey 12.1

3.1 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3

Radeon Pro 560 4 GB

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.1

Did you find any solutions?

I just bought this camera and am trying to use it on a MacBook Pro 2019, but my camera is just a black screen. If I open PhotoBooth, that causes the camera to turn back on, however it is laggy even then.

If you are using adapters, it might be worth trying an at least USB 3.2 gen 1 USB-C to C cable instead (eg; https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spigen-Thunderbolt-Certified-Charging-Transfer/dp/B09198FV8S). Do you know if the Brio works on other computers? That may also be worth trying, as it will narrow it down to this specific computer being the problem…

It also may be the case, that reinstalling macOS could fix the issue, or resetting the SMC etc. may help.

Are you also sure, that the ports on your Mac are clean, and are lint free? That comes to mind.

Hey! Sadly, no. I haven't found any solutions. I had Logitech send me a new camera cause it was under warranty and the new one hasn't worked either.

The new camera they sent does register when I pull up the LogiTune software, but it still won't turn on. It tells me there is a software update. I click to update and it bring up a ring that jumps only between 1% and 100% downloaded — but never actually updates. Then it tells me the download failed and to check my internet connection (which is working fine).

I'm not sure what to do, and I've stopped trying. I worked with someone at Logitech and they've asked me to do a bunch of things and none have worked so far.

Please send a message if you figure anything out. There was a period when I used this camera for at least 6 months and it was terrific.

I found this fairly active forum on this issue. Really not seeing anything that stands out as a fix to me, but maybe some things you could try. Let me know if you have luck! I don’t want to buy a bunch of cables to test them all. My work restricts me from installing Monterey 12.3, I’d love to know if that is the fix.
