Do not disturb mode

Hello!

There is a malfunction at do not disturb mode!

I use iPhone 12 Pro Max running iOS 15.0!

What I mean is that my phone allows every incoming call from every person while it is at the d.disturb mode

The first time that someone calls me , the phone rejects it , but with the second immediate call my phone rings

Also it rings while I am using it and I have don’t disturb mode ON!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a software error and it must be fixed !!!!!!!!!!

You do not understand. The phone is put into DND mode. No allowed notifications at all. If some idiot calls at 3:00am the phone will NOT let that call through BUT if that idiot calls right back then the phone rings. AND if that idiot or some other idiot calls before the phone can lock THE PHONE RINGS. If the phone "wakes up or unlocks" due to the idiot's first call then how do we completely lock the phone? Get it?

I’ve been using Android for years, and just switched to an iPhone 13 pro in the past couple of weeks. I really really miss Android functionality, it’s so easy and logical. iPhone makes you turn off all or nothing, I don’t know why Apple doesn’t understand that we need more granular control over volumes and do not disturb functionality. So stupid. Somebody Apple please just get an android phone and copy the functionality, everyone will be happier. I don’t care about the blasted camera!

If that’s an important feature, get an Android. Otherwise, you can do all of those things you listed with DND on an iPhone once you take about 5 minutes to learn how to use it.

You can also do everything on your list based on where you are (e.g. Home, Work, Driving, etc), what you are doing at the time, time of day, multiple times of day. So I don’t see where Android is more granular.

As you didn’t know this, I suspect you have never used an iPhone.

I have recently trying to set my wife's phone up with Do Not Disturb and calls were still coming through. I discovered that in Do Not Disturb, even if you have no one in the allow list, by default it will still allow those in your favorites list to come through.

To stop those calls without messing up your favorites do this: Go to Settings\Focus\Do Not Disturb

click on People.

on the bottom half you will see

ALSO ALLOW

Calls From

click on that and change from Favorites to No One.

Hope that helps if this is still an issue for you or anyone else out there.

To stop the second call from getting through:

Go to Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb > People > Allow Calls From > Allowed people only

Set ‘Allow Repeated Calls’ to OFF

But I swear, every time Apple changes their OS, they mess around with Do Not Disturb / Focus. I wish they would just make a setting for: allow calls from Allowed People Only, all the time, 24/7/365, whether or not you are using your phone, PERIOD. They do not seem to have figured out that this is how people avoid spam, which is continuous, and if they miss a call, they'll call the person back.

Since I upgraded to iOS 16.1, my Do Not Disturb is not working right, either.

In DND, tap People, Allow Notifications From and add the people. Then in the dropdown choose “Allowed people only"

Plan B:

If you want to allow calls but not notifications, instead don’t list any people, just tap Allow Notifications from and list no one. Go to the Contacts app, tap Lists at the top, then Add List, and create a new list (I call it VIP). Now go back to All Contacts, tap on the contacts you want to be able to call you, and for each one tap Add to List and tap the VIP list.

Back in Do Not Disturb/People you can now choose the VIP list for Allow Calls From.

The evolution of DND started 2 versions ago. It was very basic, and a lot of people complained that it wouldn’t do what they specifically wanted it to do. So Apple added some features in iOS 15, but people still complained. So in iOS 16 it is now designed to do anything that you can possibly think of, including multiple schedules in a day, different schedules for different days, DND based on where you are (e.g. work, home, school, driving, eating meals), and you can even create your own. The trouble is for people who just want a simple Do Not Disturb that they can turn on or off there is no easy way to do it.
