Until fairly recently I could search for a restaurant in Maps, then there was a button in Maps to create a new contact. I can’t find that functionality anymore. Has it been removed and is there a work around?

Select the place of your interest and tap the ellipsis button (⋯). From there you can choose Create New Contact.
